A Statement by “Ezgulik” Human Rights Society of Uzbekistan, June 06, 2011

KYRGYZ FASCISM SHOULD BE STOPPED!

On the one year anniversary of genocide against Uzbeks of Kyrgyzstan
those who are guilty are still not punished, the perpetrators are
still not brought to justice. International investigations into June
2010 events, reports and conclusions have failed to mitigate the
policy of the Kyrgyz government interested in a cleansing against the
Uzbek population of the country. On the contrary the latest
parliamentary hearings on the report of the international Kyrgyzstan
Inquiry Commission and attitude towards the work accomplished by this
international investigatory group demonstrates clearly that Nazi
groups enjoy a direct support of the Kyrgyz government. The decision
of the Kyrgyz parliament to announce Kimmo Kiljunen – a head of the
Kyrgyzstan Inquiry Commission as a nation’s enemy indicates that the
highest representative body of this country is bound to fascism
ideology.

During June 2010 events in southern Kyrgyzstan thousands of innocent
Uzbeks were killed; women were raped; children were burnt to death.
The fact that houses of Uzbeks were burnt down during the ethnic
cleansing and the Uzbek population was made flee their motherland Osh
in which they have been settled for centuries shows that
ethno-nationalism and fascism are on rise in Kyrgyzstan. It is
intolerable that those members of parliament and government officials
who welcome fascistic calls, and a group of Kyrgyz Nazis who are
keeping up their activities enjoy the support of the Kyrgyz government
headed by president Otunbaeva.

A solution to problems begins by their recognition. Without such
recognition fascism and crimes against humanity in southern Kyrgyzstan
won’t stop very soon. While the Kyrgyz officials with Nazi mood choose
the way of repressions against the witnesses of June 2010 events the
possibility of repeated clashes remain high. The move of the Kyrgyz
government to arrest and imprison representatives of the Uzbek
population, local human rights activists and journalists of Uzbek
nationality points out to the attempt of the Kyrgyz leadership to hide
away the bloody signs of their crime.

It is obvious now that the Kyrgyz Interim Government which seized
power by violence and a puppet parliament created by this government
are not in the position to carry out a good governance and tolerant
inter-ethnic policy. This government doesn’t want to draw necessary
lessons from June 2010 events. “Ezgulik” Human Rights Society of
Uzbekistan calls on the Kyrgyz population to stop their compatriots
who are overwhelmed by ethno-nationalistic mood. We also call on the
Kyrgyz intelligentsia to condemn ethno-nationalistic phenomena in
Kyrgyzstan and demand it should be stopped. Otherwise it becomes clear
that the rising fascist move of the Kyrgyz Nazis would be liquidated
by the forces of international community as it had happened with
German fascism during the 2nd World War.
