Rights activist pardoned in Jizak Region
Uznews.net – Jizak Region’s Arnasay District court heard the case of farmer and human rights activist Oyazimhon Hidirova on 30 August and released her in courtroom in line with the Senate’s amnesty campaign.

Hidirova, 34, was tried on charges of fraud, hooliganism, tax evasion and other crimes and was arrested on 28 July.

The trial was open and family members and human rights activists could attend it.

Hidirova’s lawyer asked the judge to pardon her in line with an amnesty campaign announced by the Uzbek parliament’s Senate: women who are not involved in serious crime are entitled to amnesty, and this motion was backed by the prosecution.

Hidirova herself pleaded guilty on some accounts but she also made pledges of not breaking the law in the future and urged her pardoning.

As a result, she was pardoned in line with the Senate’s amnesty campaign announced in connection with 18th anniversary of the country’s independence, and charges of fraud, tax evasion, hooliganism, embezzlement and other charges against her were dropped.

Local human rights activists said that Hidirova could go back home to her husband and two children from courtroom.

“We are very happy about the court ruling,” her lawyer Ziyodullo Razzakov said.
